Dani Loureiro is an award winning illustrator, typographer and graphic designer currently living and working in Cape Town as the Design Director at Big Wednesday, a division of independent agency Machine. Her impressive résumé includes a Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design, graduating summa cum laude, and many a young designer’s dream; work experience at the David Carson design studio in New York City.
Dani also spent 3 years in Santa Cruz, California, working as a designer for surf brand O’Neill, focusing on product design, product graphics and typography. It was after taking 9 months to travel around the world that she eventually made her way back home to Cape Town. She started working for Machine in 2011 and picked up an impressive 8 Loeries in the 2012 Loerie Awards.
Although working full time, Dani is often involved in creative side projects that let her experiment with new illustration or typographic techniques. She says, “I am passionate about well thought out, well-crafted design and have an on going love affair with typography and intricate pencil sketches. I try to start every project with a pencil and sketch pad and love to get lost in what I am working on.”
